The comprehensive knowledge and expertise of our Leadership Team encompasses the broad array of disciplines needed to build and maintain successful dental practices — while drawing on key capabilities and perspectives gained from previous positions outside the industry. Over half of these industry experts have been with American Dental Partners for nearly its entire history.

Today, the members of our Leadership Team continue to provide thought leadership, bold ideas and innovative solutions, helping to elevate the practice and delivery of quality dental care across the expanse of the ADPI network.

Kevin M. Trexler

Chief Executive Officer

Kevin Trexler joined American Dental Partners in 2015 as Chief Executive Officer.  Mr. Trexler  had been employed by DaVita in various roles since 2006, most recently as Senior Vice President of Operations, in which capacity he had oversight of and responsibility for more than 700 dialysis clinics.  Prior to DaVita, Mr. Trexler served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.

Mark Rutherford

Vice President, Marketing

Mark Rutherford joined American Dental Partners in 2016 and serves as the VP Marketing.  He has over 20 years of experience with senior level marketing roles.  Prior experience includes heading up Direct to Consumer marketing for Bose Corporation and leading the marketing function for a Philips Healthcare business unit.

Patricia E. Duncan

Vice President, Organizational Development

Patricia Duncan joined ADPI in 2008 and serves as a member of ADPI’s leadership team responsible for Organizational Development and Human Resources.  Ms. Duncan previously served as Manager, Human Resources and Training at Axcelis Technologies and as Manager, Human Resources at Creo.

 Michael W. Hoyt

Vice President, Information Services

Michael Hoyt joined American Dental Partners in 2009 and serves as Vice President – Information Services. Mr. Hoyt previously held the position of Senior Technology Director for GTECH, an international gaming technology company and various positions with Electronic Data Systems (EDS), serving clients across several industries, including health care claims processing and medical device manufacturing.

Karen Golden-Russell

Vice President, Revenue Operations and Strategic Sourcing

Karen Golden Russell joined American Dental Partners in 2016. She has over 20 years of healthcare services and technology experience in a variety of roles, including reimbursement and revenue cycle operations; strategy; marketing; and solution innovation.

 David M. Nelsen

Vice President, Corporate Controller

David Nelsen joined American Dental Partners in 2001 and has served as Vice President – Corporate Controller since 2013. He has also served as Director – Accounting and Regional Controller. Mr. Nelsen previously held a variety of finance positions at The Pillsbury Company and was an audit manager for KPMG.

Timothy C. Rodenberger

Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary

Timothy Rodenberger joined American Dental Partners in 2009 and serves as Vice President – General Counsel and Secretary. Mr. Rodenberger previously served as Corporate Counsel at Avid Technology and as Associate Counsel at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP. Mr. Rodenberger is a graduate of Harvard Law School.

Jesley C. Ruff, DDS, MPH

Senior Vice President, Chief Professional Officer

Dr. Jesley Ruff joined American Dental Partners in 1999 and has served as Senior Vice President – Chief Professional Officer since 2005. He also served as Vice President – Chief Professional Officer. Dr. Ruff previously held the position of President of Wisconsin Dental Group, S.C., one of American Dental Partners’ affiliated practices where he was a practicing dentist and held a variety of leadership positions. Dr. Ruff currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Children’s Dental Health Project and is a member of the Funders Oral Health Policy Group. He has formerly served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Prepaid Dental Plans and was an Assistant Professor at the Marquette University School of Dentistry where he had also held a variety of clinical faculty and grant positions. He has degrees from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University, Marquette University School of Dentistry and University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center.

Paul Lamendola

Chief Development Officer

Paul Lamendola joined American Dental Partners in 2016 after 25 years of healthcare management and M&A experience.  He is responsible for coordinating ADPI’s national growth strategy.  Prior to joining ADPI, Mr. Lamendola served as Vice President of Corporate Development for DaVita Healthcare Partners, and has held senior business development roles at US Oncology, PatientKeeper and Quest Diagnostics.
